I can understand, It Happened to me once, and I have been running my 400L Tank with just 4 Fish for almost 6 months now.

White spot can be dormant in the tank for years. Also it is under the fishes skin do not feel bad if you happen to see it pop up. Also a 1 micron sediment filter will catch the parasite in the filter and they will die in it. Would be a good idea when you add the fish for a few weeks

Wait are you still running medications on the QT tank? UV can degrade the medications in the water.

My tank is approaching 3 years of life. It's my first reef, having a reasonable history with hi tech planted fw. It's only been the past maybe 6 months that it's looked any good...2.5 years of bacterial bloom, algae outbreak, red snot, literally every possible malaise known to reefers, I have dealt with it. Being my first reef, to say it's been a massive learning curve and frustration on a daily basis, would be the most understated understatement in history 😂 The one thing that kept me going was nil disease or fatality, so I figured I must be doing something right. Now, I can confidently say it is a very mature, very stable and happy system...AND I LOVE IT!!! So many corals, so many cool fish, so many smiles on the face of my daughter. I think if it weren't for the fact the tank was built into a wall and very difficult to just tear down, I'd have given up ages ago. Very happy to hear of you having all the problems I have had, makes the success even more special 😉

I went through a similar process back in 2020 - ironically during the pandemic. All my fish got ich and velvet 😅 I took them all out, did the Tank Transfer Method and kept them in a quarantine tank for 110 days. In the meantime the display tank nutrients bottomed and I got dino's. It was quite terrible for the corals, but I dosed Nitrates and Phosphates and continued with water changes (to remove as much of them as possible). By the time the fish were back in, it caused a bacterial bloom and red slime algae. I kept going and slowly things got better :) I did not use Copper because I read it only prevents ich from attaching to the fish and it doesn't kill it. That parasite can come on any hard surface like snail shells, coral plugs and even shrimps, so since the event everything is quarantined and I wash my hands really well between tanks. No chance taken 😅 The TTM worked quite well, I have a powder brown and have never seen any spot on him 😊

Thank you for sharing your hardships. That is very helpful to new and old hobbyists. How often did you do water changes to the observation tank in your bathroom? I recently had a hard time keeping ammonia down in 20g observation tank with 2 small heniochus.

Have a UV for back up, in case of emergency

The purple tang in my 275 just came down with whitespot, currently prepping to move everything into QT and go fallow but hitting timing issues with a holiday coming up and having to go away for work. Doing all the snake oil treatments to maintain it till I have time spare. It's pretty depressing to see all your hard work get turned upside down.

some species of white spot can exist in the main tank for over 90 days ,wont bore you with the nightmare details but copper power for 90 days and clean your sand or remove it,the white spot was in the sand all along you returned the fish to the main tank and then did a blackout, which woke up the white spot in the sand. i now keep back ground copper in the tank, loads of natural light seems to help the white spot stay alive as well.or if you plan to keep corals in there i would drain the tank buy new sand and leave it dry for 6 months. good luck :)

I totally get your worries about adding more fish I have just 12 fish in my 750 litre tank which were shop qt in copper. I am too nervous to add anymore having gone through what you have in a previous tank.

Okay the question is with them barrels sitting outside don't they get quite hot seeing how they're black and the sunlight beats on them how do you solve the problem of the water being hotter that's coming in in the water that's actually in the tank

I love puffer fish and love the goofy porcupine but endless you have a 600 gallon or bigger this is not a good idea they get massive so as much as i love the little guy i could not house this fish do to were i have my tanks and the size of tanks i can get into the space i have available so i went with a dog face or black spotted puffer and it worked out for me and the puffer witch is in a 220 gallon aquarium people need to research the fish they're going to buy before purchasing them and understand what the requirements are going to be for this fish when it's full grown

If I build a quarantine fish tank, what should I do with the tank after each quarantine? Since there is mature filter material in the fish tank, can I just change 100% of the water to remove the residual drugs in the water? Thank you

Nah I can tell you with certainty the number one way to prevent bacterial infections with torch’s is a proper amount of UV filtration in your system in my torch system I usually run about 26watts worth of uv in that system to kill off any bacteria or rather get it to low enough concentrations to never be able to infect the torch’s I’ve never had a issue except for one torch that for some reason just didn’t like life and ejected its polyp

Where are you going to put your invert systems in the farm?? Are you going to expand?? Regarding fish you could put each one on its own listing, angels, tangs, butterflies, etc., chromis and clowns, etc., you could put generic photos?? It is doable but again, I think you will need to expand and keep them separate from your farm
